Distributech 2024 – Key Takeaways

On February 26-29th Orlando, Florida played host to Distributech – the leading North American conference showcasing technologies for electrical transmission and distribution. This year saw over 17,000 participants in attendance as well as more than 600 exhibitors. Safegrid was there with an expanded booth footprint as well as some exciting new products to show.

Smart Fault Prediction and Smart Fault Location

Safegrid showcased its new Smart Fault Prediction tool which helps operators make the transition from reactive fault correction to proactive fault avoidance.  The added capability to identify precursor faults within the GridGuardian platform was well-received by visitors to the exhibition, as evidenced by the 100+ visitors to our booths during the 2.5 days of the exhibition.  Of course, visitors were equally impressed by the 100m accuracy of the Smart Fault Location tool.

Wildfire Mitigation Front and Center

Reducing the risk of wildfires is clearly top of mind among North American grid operators. Given the enormous consequences wildfires pose to public safety, the natural environment and the economy, grid operators large and small are seeking innovative new ways to minimize the disastrous social impact of wildfires as well as avoid the financial penalties that result from them.

Numerous visitors at the exhibition were impressed by Safegrid’s solution potential and observed that accurate grid fault location and prediction are indispensable tools to help operators realize their wildlife mitigation strategies. Safegrid will continue to collaborate with its customers and partners to ensure that grid-induced wildfires are a thing of the past.
