Safegrid and Herrfors Nät-Verkko have been collaborating closely since 2023, when Safegrid delivered its first pilot project for a grid monitoring and fault locating solution. Not long after the pilot Herrfors Nät-Verkko signed a letter of intent to implement Safegrid’s Intelligent Grid System® to Herrfors Nät-Verkko´s distribution network. This implementation is producing good results.
Herrfors Nät-Verkko has encountered challenges in the past in effectively identifying damaged electrical components. Manual inspections were time consuming and thus costly. The customer had experienced strong winds during summer storms in July causing several trees to fall on the 20kV power lines. The fault locations were quickly identified with the help of Safegrid’s solution. According to the field team, the actual fault locations were about 20 meters of the fault locations shown by Safegrid.
With accurate fault locating the maintenance team knew where to go and the problem was quickly fixed. This resulted in cost savings for the client and shorter disruption of service for the end customer.
