Rauman Energia Sähköverkko (RES) has acquired Safegrid’s Intelligent Grid System™ to improve the reliability of its grid.
Rauman Energia Sähköverkko Oy (a subsidiary of Rauman Energia responsible for the electric grid) serves customers in the Rauma region and the nearby archipelago in Southwestern Finland with over 22000 usage locations. The ambitious aim of Rauman Energia is to be the most excellent energy company in 2025, and the achievement of this goal is measured, among other things, by the number of service interruptions, prices, and customer satisfaction.
Over 90% of the RES grid is weather-resilient underground cable, and only the archipelago area still has overhead lines. A good measure of the reliability of the grid is that nearly 50% of customers had no service interruptions during the year 2019. Improving operational reliability has been one of the key development areas of RES, and RES continuously invests in it.
With Safegrid’s Intelligent Grid System (IGS), RES can achieve even better visibility into its grid. Real-time alerts with exact location information provided by the system enable faster repairs to minimize service interruptions and downtime.
The IGS system delivered by Safegrid consists of Grayfox™ sensors for monitoring the network and the cloud-based Gridguardian™ monitoring backend that gives RES instant visibility and alerts from a web client and a mobile application.
